A small church with a big heart

Newsletter November 2025

Dear Friends,

For the Church, November is traditionally a season of remembrance. We remember and give thanks for those known personally to us and also for those who have given their lives in defence of our nation. A special Choral Evensong service is being held at the Church on Sunday 2 November and we will be remembering with love and gratitude all those known to ourselves who have died. Our Remembrance Sunday Service is being held on November 9 starting at 10:50am.  All are most welcome to join us for this special service of commemoration and remembrance.

Christians believe that Jesus offers hope and comfort to those who grieve. Jesus himself is the sign and symbol of God’s regenerative and transcending love, the promise that God will restore life where there is death. Christians believe that Jesus can bring hope even to the darkest and most painful moments of our life. Writing after their experiences of the horrors of trench warfare in WWI, both JRR Tolkein and CS Lewis wrote of how their faith in God helped them get through their worst days, giving them hope for a better tomorrow. That goodness and light would overcome the darkness in the end, and that justice would prevail. And that is our hope and prayer for today too: that the fragile peace in Gaza and the Middle East will hold, and that justice and peace will come to Ukraine and other parts of the world currently in conflict.

God Bless,

Clare
