Dear Friends,
We have been enjoying some glorious, hot summer weather and it looks set to remain for the holidays! We were blessed with a beautiful day for this year’s annual Lordsbridge Pilgrimage last month. Setting off from Childerley Chapel at 8am, we visited all eleven Parishes, meeting and making friends along the route. Our grateful thanks to all who greeted us in each parish with cool drinks and a chance to refresh ourselves in the coolness of our beautiful buildings. It was a relief to reach Haslingfiled at just after 6:30pm! What an incredible day of friendship and fellowship! For many of us, the day was the perfect opportunity to connect with God in our beautiful churches and countryside and a chance to recharge our spiritual batteries in amongst the daily busyness of life. During the season of Pentecost we are reminded of God’s promise to “power us up” spiritually through the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit infuses us with energy, power and confidence to live out our faith. The Holy Spirit accompanies us on our life’s journey, sustaining and strengthening us, whatever happens.
Whatever your plans for the Summer, I hope you have a wonderful time!
God Bless,
Clare

The Importance of our Churchyard to Wildlife
Churchyards are key parts of the UK ecosystem, and increasingly the largest acreage where areas of meadow grassland and wildflowers are left throughout the year to encourage a diverse cross section of wildlife. In Dry Drayton the churchyard is one of a number of places across the village providing a corridor for the many insects, small mammals and birds.
- Flowering trees, wildflowers, and ivy provide nectar for pollinators, followed by fruits and seeds for insects, birds and mammals in the autumn and winter
- Grasses offer a habitat to other ground dwelling species and the caterpillars of butterflies such as the meadow brown and marbled white.
For further information about our churchyard management plans, please see the board inside the church.
Churchyard Working Party Dates: Can you help?

Our churchyard is currently managed with wildlife in mind but relies on a very small group of individuals to look after the site. Every so often, we need a bigger team to help with some of the essential maintenance. If you can give your time, we are planning two dates in July: 19th and 26th (both Saturdays) from 10am in the morning to around lunchtime. We’ll be tackling some areas that are overgrown, edging the paths, and continuing the preparation to renew the perimeter of the memorial garden, where the original box hedge has been severely damaged by box moth. Please bring some gloves, hand tools and energy! Refreshments will be provided.
