Dear Friends,
What a difference the sunshine makes! It’s been wonderful to have some warm spring weather at last after what feels like endless rain! The Churchyard has benefitted from both the warmth and the rain, and it is looking very pretty with our wildflowers starting to grow! Weather permitting, Forest Church is held outdoors in our beautiful Churchyard every fourth Sunday, from 3-4pm. Since Christmas, we have been following the story of creation, each month focusing on a different aspect, and thinking about the importance of caring for and protecting our world and all its creatures, trees, plants and flowers. We have thought about what night creatures live in our Churchyard and we learnt that bats use this space to hunt and feed. There is evidence that we are visited by foxes, badgers and hedgehogs too. We are very keen to encourage wildlife and are working hard to increase our biodiversity. No mow May has been observed in the hope of encouraging wildlife to flourish! We will also be continuing to work towards our Silver Award from Eco Church, run by the Christian environmental organisation A Rocha. We are also working hard towards our Wildlife Trust silver award. Do visit our website to learn more about what we are doing, and for some great tips on how we can all play our part to protect, preserve and care for our planet! We believe that God cares deeply about how we treat our world and all its wildlife and its varied environmental habitats. It’s really important to work together to preserve and protect the earth. And here at St Peter and St Paul’s, we are working hard to play our part!
I hope you have a wonderful June and I look forward to seeing you soon.
